This hotel is a hidden gem near the riverfront, perfect for attending the rodeo or simply relaxing. the rooms are clean, comfortable, and come with great facilities. the nearby restaurant provided excellent food and service. the view of the surroundings is simply stunning.
The breakfast could be improved with a wider variety of options.

My husband and I LOVED everything about our room and the hotel! We honestly wanted to stay forever. On the main floor we played pool and chess. It was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We loved the view of the river from our room.

The hotel's location near the banks of the Mississippi River offers a stunning view and a chance to explore the historic neighborhood filled with charming homes dating back to the 1800s. The room I stayed in was not only spotlessly clean but also elegantly furnished with homey antiques, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff, including the General Manager Chi, were friendly and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Additionally, the delicious food at the attached restaurant, River Rock, was a delightful surprise, and the outdoor seating in the courtyard added to the overall experience.
No improvements necessary, everything was fantastic!

Beautiful place, interestingly and carefully decorated. Friendly, informative staff.
DIdn't bother us, but FYI, located beside railroad tracks, so can be noisy at night. (Establishment provides white-noise machines) Parking lot can be difficult to find. Our room was not made up (we didn't realise we needed to hang tag on door for regular service)

the value for money is incredible, especially considering the stunning views of the Mississippi river. Secondly, the staff is highly attentive and the service is top-notch. They provided great information about the town and made us feel right at home. And thirdly, the rooms are beautifully decorated with comfortable chairs for reading the newspapers provided and elegant period furnishings. It's clear that attention to detail is a priority at this hotel. The basic amenities are also well-maintained, including the good bathroom facilities. Lastly, the breakfast spread was delightful with a variety of options like blueberry pancakes and fresh fruit, along with coffee, tea, and orange juice.
None of these reviews listed anything negative.

My experience overall was really memorable and the best room I have ever had for the money but trying to locate the manager, (who also served as the bartender in the restaurant next door), to check in to our room was disconcerting, as was trying to find someone the following morning to obtain the promised breakfast.

There was a very nice staffer who made us breakfast in the morning room on the second floor. She was very friendly when we asked her questions about the property and it was obvious that she loved it and was really dedicated to her work. We also loved the meticulous decor, clearly done with care and taste, and the antique furnishings. The mattress and bedding were state of the art, however, very new and comfortable, with very high quality sheets. We loved that there was an elevator. The lobby, etc. seems to be a new addition and was very nice. The restaurant was still open when we arrived after 8 PM and we were served with the utmost courtesy. The front desk person goes home at night, but she made sure we were comfortably installed before she left. In the morning the breakfast cook was totally there for us. She showed us the Governor's Suite which stretches along the front of the third floor with a wonderful view of the river and bridge. Fort Madison seems to be an important railroad junction. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the trains. People apparently like to book the Governor's Suite for weddings and parties and we wished we lived in town so we could use it. Splendid place.
There was absolutely nothing about the hotel we didn't like. Only the Atlas Restaurant cooking could have been a bit better: it was a bit rough and ready, but we were so hungry and grateful to have found them open that we didn't care and enjoyed our dinner anyway. They had pretty good calamari - to make them classy all they would need is a good sauce for them. Couldn't eat the ribs - overly smokily sauced and a lot too much of them - we should have ordered a steak instead - they seem to specialize in steak.

From arrival to departure, the staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing. Their attention to guest needs is something seldom witnessed at many hotels nowadays. The rooms are large and extremely well decorated & comfortable. The rest of the hotel from lobby to breakfast room to restaurant / bar to piano room to guest room (I could go on & on) was always immaculate. Lori, Aaron, Lance and all other staff members were tremendously welcoming. Unfortunately, I live in Scotland and the opportunity to visit there again might not happen but if they are ever in Scotland, I would be more than willing to return the compliments shown to me during my stay.
There was absolutely nothing that I did not like.

We recently had a romantic escape in a historic inn and we were blown away. The room had a vintage feel with modern amenities. The breakfast spread was perfect, with a variety of options available, and we loved the personalized service from the staff. The location was amazing too, just steps away from the river and train station. We had a great time exploring the area and ended up spending a cozy night in, enjoying the complimentary wine and cheese.
Although our experience was delightful, we did have a small issue checking in. There was no one at the front desk, and we had to locate the manager to get our key.
